Blind Video

Blind Video            multimedia installation                                       2002

As humans we are always exploring alternative perspectives and perceptions. Working in collaborations people with visual impairments, the core idea was to generate opportunities for people with visual impairments to explore art as technology, offering the visual and technological medium of video as a contemporary art form, whilst questioning video as a viable form of communication. The Visually impaired were the artists, exploring how they interpreted color, while videoing and editing their own images. We constructed a long hallway with a room at the end, 3 video projections, alternately playing sound represented the 3 primary colors. All the walls had a line of Braille describing the artists personal narratives, while those with sight could only use the sound and images to imagine what the artists were trying to say.
