PROJECTS

printing device PRINTINGMAKING COMPUTING INTERACTION: This project used the craft of printmaking as a useful link for introducing cognitive awareness in early childhood education though direct, representational, playful interaction with a computer. One stamp on a piece of paper and part of the image is removed. More stamping, more disappearing image from the screen, but the child gets to take how their own personally crafted picture. While eventually the entire image will be erased on the computer. By creating a stamped print you are erasing the image on the screen – a simulation of the digitalization process. We perceive digitalization as an addition to the object but what is being created is really taking away from reality 2005
comic words
ONAMATOPEIA: Comic book sounds are made up of words that are essentially a line of letters. that represent a physical actions but have no formal meaning, yet require personal interpretation. I created small, 20 second, visual interpretations as digital animations of some written words of actions, a reinterpretation an invocation of unreal physical and violent situations Creating an interactionbetwen the viewer and the monitor. the viewer is being forced to take a suggested position of the action of the comic book sound. The monitor and sound will respond to the viewers presence and enforced stance.
terrorist HOMELAND SECURITY: Digital video of a child phonetically interpreting words on terrorism projected onto the face of a parent.
